7 Multi Level Marketing Tips for Introverts

May 10, 2018 by ListGuy

We often think of salespeople as loud, personable extroverts. But if you’re an introvert looking for multi-level marketing tips, don’t despair. In reality, some of the most successful entrepreneurs are introverts, like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.

Most people think being introverted is the same thing as being shy and having low-self esteem. In reality, the difference between being an introvert and an extrovert is how they get their energy.

Extroverts perform at their best when interacting with multiple people and crowds. They do their best thinking around others.

Introverts thrive on solitude. They do their best while thinking through things on their own. So even though introverts can be far from shy and self-deprecating, can they be good at sales?

Of course, introverts can be good at multi-level marketing, but having the right plan of action is critical. Check out our 7 marketing tips for introverts.

1) Change Your Mindset about Multi-Level Marketing

If you’re someone who does a full-body cringe hearing the word “Salesperson,” then it’s time for you to get a new mindset.

One of the best marketing tips is to think of it not as sales, but as communication, education, and building relationships. Your client has a problem, and you have a solution you believe in.

It would be the same thing as if your friend wasn’t sure which phone to buy. You would help him by presenting what you know, communicating how it would help him, and using your relationship with him to convince him it’s the right move.

If you think of it that way, then becoming a top multi-level marketer can be a breeze.

2) Remember You’re an Introvert, Not Someone with Cripplingly Low Self-Worth

Self-worth issues affect extroverts and introverts alike. A bad self-image is not about how you get your energy, but how you see yourself.

An extrovert with a bad self-image might spend all of his time trying to get validation from other people instead of solving problems. An introvert with bad-self worth might be too busy wallowing to think of any good solutions.

For anyone with bad self-esteem looking for a good multi-level marketing tip, here’s this: Get some help. Ask for support from people who love you, and get better connected to yourself. You’ll be much better at life and marketing if you do.

3) Work with Your Strengths

Multi-level marketing is not a single-approach business. There are many ways to connect with clients, and some of them are great for introverts.

If you’re not great at face-to-face sales, consider writing or blogging. If writing isn’t your thing, but you’re good in front of a camera, think about setting up a YouTube account or connecting through other social media websites.

Maybe you’re great at connecting people. If that’s you, then listen to your client, help them figure out how to solve their problem, then connect them with the right person. This works well if you have a lot of great personal relationships with your clients because you’ve gotten your name out there and helped two people out.

4) Manage Your Time and Know Your Limits

Perhaps one of the most crucial multi-level marketing tips for an introvert is to know your limits and manage your time accordingly. Pushing yourself to keep up with extroverted colleagues will lead to burn out.

Instead, when you’re making your schedule, make sure you add some downtime into your day. If you have a full weekend of extroverted activities and networking ahead, then schedule the day afterward as isolated alone time.

There’s nothing wrong with pushing yourself and learning more “extroverted skills.” The more you learn about interacting with people, the better you’ll be at marketing. But when you feel like you’re reaching a breaking point, allow yourself a break. Pushing yourself too much will lead to some poor return on your client relationships.

5) Team Up With an Extrovert

If you really want to excel in multi-level marketing, then learn to work with people who are different from you.

An extrovert can push you to do things that you don’t excel in, or they can just take over where you fall short. At the same time, an introvert can teach an extravert how to take advantage of alone time, and how to focus on themselves and one-on-one client meetings.

When you’re teamed up with the right extrovert, it can be a win-win situation.

6) Talk to People One-On-One

You extrovert friends might be able to wow a crowd, but you’re better one-on-one. If that sounds like you, then a good multi-level marketing tip for you is to find one or two people you really connect with, then invite them out for a one-to-one casual coffee or beer.

This kind of one-on-one exposure is great for building relationships, especially if you know how to work it. With one-on-one meetings, remember to focus on your client. Instead of talking a lot and trying to control how the other person sees you, let them talk.

People love to talk about themselves. If you make an effort to really listen and engage in the conversation, they’ll feel great about you, your meeting, and your product.

7) Cut Yourself a Break and Focus on Progress

As an introvert, sales might not be the thing that you’re naturally great at. That doesn’t mean you won’t excel in marketing, but it does mean you’ll have to make your own way.

No matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert, nobody is going to be perfect at the job. Keep that in mind when you’re setting goals for yourself. You’re looking for good progress, not a perfect record.
